Woodville West Torrens Lease and Licence Request Approved

2 December 2024

At the end of November, Council considered a report on the findings of community engagement in October on a new lease and licence request for the Woodville West Torrens Football Club at their home of Woodville Oval. After noting the findings - which demonstrated significant community commitment and pride for the Club's request as well as support for improved lease and licence terms - Council decided on the request.

The key resolutions of Council were:

  1. Woodville West Torrens Football Club (WWTFC) be granted a new Building Lease and Grounds Licence for a term of 20 years plus a further right to renew for 20 years.
  2. That Council acknowledges and accepts the WWTFC's request for a further reduction in lease and ground licence fees to a value of $40k per annum (CPI adjusted) which reflects the Club's not-for-profit nature, its broad community impacts, and its ongoing commitment to facility improvements, with a further report tabled to Council at the conclusion of the first 10 years of this agreement.

This is a fantastic outcome for WWTFC and its members, as well as the broader community who enjoy the sense of culture, community and activation that comes from having the Club's home in their local area.

There were limited, expected concerns around ongoing access to the oval for recreation when not in use for organised sport, and also about traffic congestion, safety and parking concerns on games days. We will continue to manage these matters as they are reported to us. To report any issues, please contact 8408 1111 and staff can attend to investigate.
