Woodville Oval Lease and Licence Request: Engagement Outcomes & Decision Report

14 November 2024

We engaged with the public from 2 - 25 October 2024 on an exclusive building lease & a non-exclusive grounds licence over Woodville Oval, Oval Avenue, Woodville South, for a total period of 40 years (20+20-years), as requested by Woodville West Torrens Football Club (the Club/WWTFC).

We had 490 responses from the community about the Club's request, which demonstrated a high participation rate.

The results showed that over 98% of participants were in support of the Club's request for a new lease and licence request at the extended term of 20 years with an optional 20-year extension.

There was also high support for the Club’s activities, generally, and their contribution to community as whole, which was fantastic to see.

Some participants, while still supportive of the Club's request, did request consideration be given to noise, local parking and traffic issues on game days, and further investment by Council in the grounds. These matters will be considered in the decision process. A few requests for a dedicated, recreational, public space that is open to the community at all times at the southern end of the oval (along Glen Lossie Street) will be considered separately under our Open Space Strategy.

The key recommendation is, "That the Woodville West Torrens Football Club be granted a new Building Lease and Grounds Licence for a term of 20 years plus a further right to renew for 20 years."
