Community Engagement Report

We wrote to residents in Windsor Avenue, in July 2020 about the proposed road rehabilitation of each of these streets, as the road condition is reaching the end of its life.

Community Engagement Overview

We consulted with local residents for a period of 3 weeks, seeking views on challenges and opportunities in the street which would assist develop a concept plan, should it be required. We received 9 written responses during the consultation period.

We heard the following key comments;

•Improvement to the verges (landscaping) and trees to fit in with the heritage of the area
•Pave the footpaths
•Extend the project along whole length of Windsor Avenue
•Parking is an issue when there is table tennis operating
•Lighting improvements
•Repair kerb and gutter as stormwater is ponding

Scope of Works

The scope of works for the Windsor Avenue road rehabilitation will include:

  • Installation of new stormwater drain and side entry pits to allow for better water flow and capacity
  • Renewal of road pavement and asphalt resurfacing from Park Street South to Marlborough Street
  • Full Renewal of all kerb and gutter
  • Upgrade of kerb ramps and landings to comply with Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) requirements to improve access for all people.
  • Footpath repairs to damaged sections, as required
  • Upgrade of identified driveway crossovers for replacement due to cross-fall of current infrastructure.
  • Renew yellow line marking, retaining existing parking
  • New yellow line marking on all approaches at the roundabout

Oxford Street Rehabilitation

Oxford Street from Windsor Ave to Russell Terrace is also due for rehabilitation, with a like for like construction.

The scope of works for the Oxford Street road rehabilitation will include:
•Kerb and Gutter renewal, where required
•Asphalt resurfacing
•Footpath renewal, where necessary

Construction timing

The construction work has now been deferred to commence in the 2022/23 financial year and not 21/22 as previously mentioned in consultation material. Once a date is confirmed we will provide further notification to you to ensure you can plan accordingly. Additional information about what to expect during a road reconstruction will also be provided at that time.
