Community Consultation Outcomes and Next Steps

19 December 2024

In August 2024, we undertook targeted community consultation with property owners and residents along Russell Terrace in Woodville to seek level of support for two proposed traffic calming treatment options.

We informed the local community that the existing raised single-lane intersections along Russell Terrace would need to be replaced as they no longer meet current Australian standards and technical requirements. However, removing these intersections will reduce traffic calming, so we proposed two new options designed to slow down traffic and improve safety along this stretch of road.

Community Feedback

We invited the community to share their thoughts on the two traffic calming options:

  • Option 1: Single-lane slow points
  • Option 2: Flat-top road humps

Out of 24 responses received:

  • 25% (6 people) preferred Option 1.
  • 54% (13 people) preferred Option 2.
  • 21% (5 people) didn’t support either option.

Based on this feedback, we will be installing flat-top road humps along Russell Terrace to improve safety for pedestrians and road users.

Next Steps

Our Design Team have completed the plans, and we will soon begin the tender process for these works.

A copy of our final concept plan is now available to view.

Work is expected to start in 2025, alongside the planned road rehabilitation for Russell Terrace.

We would like to thank all those who participated in the consultation process by providing valuable feedback via our survey, email or speaking with us in person.
