Amended Lease Proposal to be Considered

21 February 2025

On 9 December 2024, a report was considered by Council which shared the findings of the 4-week community engagement period from late September 2024 on Amplitel's 20-year exclusive lease request over a portion of land in Grange Recreation Reserve. This report also considered an amended lease proposal from Amplitel in response to concerns from the community about the location of the lease in the reserve. At the meeting, Council:

  • Noted the community engagement findings;
  • Endorsed additional engagement regarding the amended lease proposal; and
  • Requested a further report be presented to Council following the additional engagement to consider any new feedback received.

Why are you being invited to comment again?

The amended lease proposal has some key changes from information we shared with you last year. You're welcome to comment on the changes or, if you have no new comments to add, you might like to take a quick poll to share your thoughts about the updated proposal with one click.

If you didn't support the lease request the first time because of the intended telecommunication tower it would host, we understand your views probably haven't changed. However, you're welcome to make comment on any of the changes.

Key changes for the amended lease proposal include:
  • The lease location on the reserve
  • The size of the lease area
  • Consolidation of the lease area (from 2 areas to 1 area)
  • The required height of any future, potential infrastructure (eg the tower)
  • No impact to sports/reserve lighting
  • More established trees for screening
  • Less interference with/impact on sport, recreation, visual sightline and spectating.
