November 2023 Community Consultation

The information on this page was produced in November 2023 when Council undertook a first round of community engagement. Refer to the "Project Home" page for the most up-to-date information and for details on the April 2024:

  • Revised draft Community Land Management Plan (CLMP); and
  • Revised draft, non-exclusive licence to the South Australian National Football League (SANFL).

What is this project about? (November 2023 version)

  1. A draft Community Land Management Plan (CLMP) for Football Park.
We anticipate that land at Lot 5066 Turner Avenue, West Lakes (refer to the map below), known as "Football Park", will be vested (entrusted) to the City of Charles Sturt (Council) as early as 2026. This coincides with the completion of the West development and the required transfer of land to be designated as open space "community land", as well the intended departure of the Adelaide Football Club (AFC) from West Lakes.

In readiness for this time, a draft Community Land Management Plan (CLMP) has been prepared to set out how the future, community land will be managed. We would like to hear your thoughts on Council's proposed Plan.

  2. A request to grant a future licence for use of Football Park.
As a separate matter, we recently received a formal request from the South Australian National Football League Inc (SANFL) to grant a non-exclusive licence to use Football Park for a period of 21+21 years, at certain times. This would allow the SANFL to develop a new football facility adjacent Football Park, and use the facility and oval to run and manage its various programs, in particular its talent pathways for leading boys and girls in the state to realise their potential.
