Library
The building at 378 Seaview Road was originally used as the Henley and Grange Civic Centre and has been used as the library since 1995. The building has differing floor levels, structural columns and multiple access points, which impacts on the layout and operation of the building as a library.
It has become apparent that roof truss repairs are required to continue to use the building. Some of these repairs have already been undertaken over the Town Hall, learning room and toilets and a review of the extent of the works needed, has shown that the repairs required are more expensive than originally anticipated. We want to ensure we are not spending unnecessary resources, particularly if they prove to be only a temporary measure. We have been operating the library in the Town Hall since July 2020 while we investigate the creation of a Henley Beach community hub.
Community Centre
The size of the community centre limits the number of activities and community groups it can support, therefore we are exploring the inclusion of the community centre in the new facility.
