Not sure how to get started with your ideas? Here's some things we heard from you last year:

  • Adopt or purchase a tree

"Community members can adopt a tree for a gold coin donation & receive a certificate, photo & location of the tree. A plaque could be placed at the base of the tree recognising its adoption. Or we could adopt an established tree or receive/buy a special tree and plant it in a council-approved location in memory of a loved one, again with a small plaque at the base...This would provide a level of community “ownership” of the trees."- jane_constance

  • Free trees

"Work with a street or suburb to plant street trees on the verge. Ask who is interested, set a date, letterbox all the houses, and turn up with equipment and seedlings so that people can plant a tree or two in front of their own house. Provide them with advice on how to care for it." - Posted by JonH

  • 'In my backyard or on my verge'

"People may feel that they can't have a tree for whatever reason. It would be great if they could have a personalised home visit by a council arborist or others who know about canopy to look at what is possible. This might be a small verge tree or something in their own property. They could be featured in a video to promote this kind of action, as per an ad on TV a while back: 'I own a tree'." - Posted by andrea
