Outcome: Freshwater Lake Water Management Decision

16 December 2022

At its meeting of 12 December 2022, the Council considered a report on the Freshwater Lake Review seeking endorsement of a future lake management option.

This decision follows extensive consultation with the community and Council consideration of those outcomes.

It was also resolved that funds would be made available to commence initial design this year, with support for the future allocation of funds in the 2023/24 financial year to undertake detailed design and necessary investigations required to construct and implement the Off-line Treatment solution.

You can view the full report considered by the Council in the 12 December meeting agenda via our Council agendas and minutes webpage. If you haven't had the opportunity yet, you can also head back to the project page (via the button below) to review the stage one and stage two community consultation processes and outcomes or find out more about the life of this project.

We will continue to maintain the lake while the permanent structural and management improvements to enhance maintenance and operations of the water body are implemented. We will also provide relevant updates via our City of Charles Sturt Latest News page, as the project progresses.

Finally, we would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who was involved in the Freshwater Lake review consultation process. It was warming to hear how much the lake is valued by the community and to understand your relationships and histories with the Lake.

We value your participation and hope to hear from you again in future engagement opportunities. To ensure you don't miss out, edit your YourSay Charles Sturt profile and select areas or locations of interest to you, and head to the home page to follow 'Open' or 'Active' projects that you would like to stay updated on.

We wish everyone a safe and joyous Christmas, and look forward to working with you again, in 2023.
